After seeing this novel on several recommended book lists I decided to give it a shot. So far I've only read about ten pages, but I can already see that what the critics say is true. Several critics have praised Ruskovich for her outstanding prose, an opinion which I can only say I agree with. The way in which Ruskovich reveals details about her characters and their pasts is skillful and articulate. Even early on in the story, I already am starting to put together the pieces of Ann's and Wade's pasts, a concept which is crucial to the story line. I am intrigued by Ruskovich's story, and based on my reading thus far, will enjoy the book.
